The ‘Notice alien species’ campaign has ended successfully
Heavy snowfall and blizzard ended the ‘Notice alien species’ campaign. A total of 94 observers of alien species contributed to the mapping of knotweed, common snowberry, false spiraea, giant goldenrod and Canadian goldenrod, recording a total of 422 sightings.
The highest number of sightings was recorded for knotweed (153) and common snowberry (137), while the lowest were for goldenrods (73) and false spiraea (38).
In addition, 21 other alien species were sighted, including hogweed, Himalayan balsam, krynickillus melanocephalus, Spanish slug and Asian ladybeetle.
We received the highest number of sightings from Harju (159) and Saare (129) counties.
Just like in summer, the best mappers have been invited to the Forest Kitchen this winter. The best observers of and data providers on alien species in the autumn season were Anu Randveer, Aivi Kaasik and Tavo Ani. Tiina Ploom and Pille Teder can also join in the well-deserved culinary experience as a result of the raffle.
Five contributors also won the book "Metsapoole maitsed, taimed ja toit".
